Doi Luang National Park contains mixed deciduous forest, evergreen 25 forest and deciduous dipterocarp forest. There are diverse kinds of wildlife and birds which covers an area of 1,170 square kilometers in Phan District. One interesting tourist attraction there is Pu Kaeng Waterfall, a beautiful massive waterfall in Chiang Rai. It is a large waterfall amid virgin jungle with water cascading down limestone brooks and it has 9 tiers containing lots of stalagmites and stalactites. Camping and forest trekking are available.

How to get there
Take the route Chiang Rai – Phayao for 58 km. to get to Ban Pu Kaeng. At km.773. turn right and go on for 9 km. to the national park office.

Khun Chae National Park
Khun Chae National Park was established in 1995. This park is shady with intact forest and rich in natural resources. Visitors wishing to take a jungle trek and camp within the park need to procure the services of a guide and prepare their own camping equipment. The trek through the Khun Chae jungle is for adventure travel enthusiasts as the route passes through steep terrain and several hilltops and cliffs over 1,400 meters high. There are good scenic lookout points and trekkers can enjoy waterfalls, flowing streams and virgin jungle areas covered with various plants.

How to get there
Khun Chae National Park is located at Tambon Mae Chedi Mai of Wiang Pa Pao District. It can be reached by taking the Chiang Mai - Chiang Rai Route (Highway No. 118). The park headquarters is right next to the highway at kilometers 55-56.

The area of Namtok Khun Kon Forest Park, Namtok Huai Kaeo-Bo Namron Huai Mak Liam Forest Park and Namtok Pong Phra Bat Forest Park., Chiangrai province, which have the site in the vicinity boundary. There is rather fertile natural condition but there are no support laws to administer so it was unable to develop the potential of the area and the main tourism spots for carry the expansion of a community, also with the tourists who travels into Chiangrai Province, which is the north important tourism border town, so the Royal Forest Department sent some of officers to survey Forest Park as mentioned and including National Reserved Forest area and in the vicinity area and on January 2001 started to explore a primary information and also sent some of the officers to control the area. On July 2001 and in the budget year 2002, the Royal Forest Department planned the program and the estimates to assume setting Lam Nam Kok to be a National Park including approval to construct the office buildings at the site of Huaimakliam watershed management unit office, in the local of Doi Hang sub-district, Mueang District, Chiangrai province. Permission using this area was from the Royal Forest Department on May 10, 2002.

How to get there
From Chiangrai Province to Chiangrai road-Bandenha crossroad pass Khai Mengrai Maharat then go to Doi Hang sub-district and 19 kms to Ban Phasert then go about 1.5 kms to headquarters or will chose to raft along Lam Nam Kok with travel from Lam Nam Kok bridge in the city of Chiangrai, about 20 kms to headquarters.
